Despite treatment with chemotherapy, radiation therapy or sometimes surgery, the disease carries a poor prognosis. In recent trials was the report that a survival advantage from chemotherapy in malignant pleural mesothelioma, showing a statistically significant improvement in median survival from 10 months.
